Eating at 12 Bones. This place is famous because apparently the president eats here when he's in town. It's kinda touristy but the food is worth it. So good.

Playing with Thomas at Lonnie's house. He belongs to Kyle's girlfriend and he is an absolute trip.

Buying this little guy at Target for 2 bucks. White pumpkins are my favorite.

Painting my nails for Halloween! It's really rough this close up, I know. But it still makes me happy.

Putting aside all my Halloween related media for easy access.

Getting ready to leave for the Sigma Nu Halloween Party. Olivia and Shai are our adopted hallmates.

southbound for georgia.

Lonnie and I took a road trip to Georgia for a car show. I had about as much fun as a girl who does not give two shits for cars at a car show can have. But really, I love Georgia, and it was nice to escape to a slightly warmer place for a while. I am a very good passenger when it comes to car rides. I can sit in a car for hours just looking out the window and humming happily along to whatever music is playing. In this case, it was Southern Baptist Christian radio and then eventually (and thankfully) classic rock. And as much as I love being a passenger, Lonnie loves being a driver and does as well as I do in the car, so road trips for us are a good thing.

I took a few snapshots, mostly in the car, but let Lonnie handle my camera to take pictures of the cars. He thought I'd be impressed by his lens flare captures. I was.

lake eden arts festival.

I didn't have a chance to get any actual decent pictures from LEAF, but here are a few snapshots from walking around. The festival was gorgeous and a lot of fun and completely unlike anything else. The festival was a perfect reflection of Asheville: good food, friendly people, gorgeous sites, and unique art. I'd love to go again next year and maybe get a campsite for the whole weekend with some friends.

Some of my favorite vendors from the festival were:

The Cap Man - I walked back and forth in front of his cap-covered automobile countless times. I couldn't stop staring. After seeing the film Automorphosis at one of the art walks last year, I was beyond ecstatic to see one in person. I wish I could've had a conversation with the man himself, but I was supposed to be working so I felt that it was best that I didn't. I'm regretting it now, but hopefully I will see the Cap Man around again.

Photography 1851 - Authentic tintype photography. Authentic. Tintype. Photography. I almost squealed. I remember learning about these way back in Photography class in middle school. There is nothing like the images this process produces. They are hauntingly beautiful. I'd love to have a portrait made for my wedding someday.

Metamorphosis Metals - Gorgeous handmade jewelry. Simple and rustic. Totally my taste. Someone drop hints to my boyfriend. My birthday is November 24th.

Homegrown - A local food restaurant in Asheville. I've never been to the restaurant itself yet, but I had some of their food at the festival and it was so delicious. I'll definitely be stopping into their restaurant(which is just down the street from campus!) whenever I get the chance.

beneath the maple tree.

The maple trees in the quad have been turning and falling, and it is such a sight to see every day. It definitely makes walking to class a bit less dreadful.

Tomorrow, I will be attending the Lake Eden Arts Festival as a guest. I am beyond excited. I'm also feeling a  little nervous because I don't know what to expect, but I've been told so many good things about the festival that I'm trying not to worry too much. I'll be taking my camera, so hopefully I'll have time in between working to take photos. The location is supposedly gorgeous this time of year.

I'm also nervous because I've been really sick all week. I've had a terrible cold and it's just gotten worse. I went to the health center and the nurse told me the same things anyone will tell you about how to get rid of a cold: drink a lot of water and hot tea and get as much sleep as possible. So that's what I'll continue to do, and hopefully I'll feel well enough to enjoy the festival tomorrow.

an autumn adventure.

We decided to participate in our first Campus Rec activity: Crafts on Craggy. It was free. We made journals and ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We hiked a bit and got some fresh mountain air in our lungs. It was a bit chilly, but the sun was warm. The group of 12 girls who went were all really nice and friendly. We played a couple of games. I laid in the sun and sat still for a much needed moment. It was something different than what I'm used to and I'm glad I decided to do it.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter. I cannot stress enough how much I love this stuff. It's perfect for my crazy lip color obsessions. I bought the Tutti Frutti color for summer, and I just bought the Candy Apple color for autumn.
These Harry Winston advertising campaigns by Laziz Hamani. Such a crazy idea. It's both hilarious and gorgeous.

These skirts from Ananya that I discovered through The Dainty Squid. I've been looking for a good, neutral skirt to wear over tights and leggings in the fall and winter with sweaters.

Copper accents in kitchens. I am so crazy about certain details in kitchens. I love glass, wood, white, and right now: copper.

Fleece-lined leggings from Anthropologie. I bought a pair and they are going to help me get through a more intense winter!
The Violet
And the fall issue of The Violet featuring Elise Blaha Cripe. This lady is so inspiring and this quarterly is fantastic.

a rush of blood to the head.

It is freezing here in Concord and as excited as I am, I'm equally terrified of going back to school at Asheville. I am going to die this winter. Everyone keeps saying that it's going to be a cold one this year.

In other news, being home this time around has been weird and not what I expected. It's been wonderful, though, let me stop myself before I sound misleading. I just stress out about coming home because I feel like there's so much to do and so little time. So I end up giving up, vegging out, watching TLC and cuddling with my dog (by the way, Breaking Amish is surprisingly wonderful. so entertaining). I guess there's really never enough time. I'm looking forward to Christmas this year more than ever. I'm so excited to have a month off of school to be home and surrounded by family and friends (and also a month away from mountain winter weather!).

Things start changing when the leaves do, and I'm hoping that will be a good thing this year. I'm excited about spending fall in a new city, especially in Asheville. Fall is definitely the most gorgeous of all in the mountains. I'm excited to head back to the farmer's market and go apple picking. I also really want to find a good pumpkin patch to go to. Halloween is so close and I'm doing everything I can to get in the spirit. I was lucky to be home in time to at least help with the decorations. Halloween is a big deal in my house. I make sure of that.

I was playing with self-portraits and only liked them in black and white but I decided to include them above anyway. After my age old 365 project, I don't take pictures of myself anymore and I'd like to have at least a new facebook profile picture every now and then. Nothing majorly fancy here, just enough to document myself as I age.

The rest of the images are from a trip Samm and I took downtown back in September. They're not my favorite pictures, but it was a good day and I wanted to include it.
