from this week:
this living room, because it's totally my style and it feels both modern and cozy.
this quote, not because I agree with it(because I'm not 100% sure that I do), but because it's got me thinking, and I've had it in my head all week. Taste is relative, obviously, but I do believe it matters. It may be shallow belief, but I do think it's important in fields such as art and design to search around on things like Pinterest in order to find what speaks to you and, more importantly, think about why they speak to you in order to produce things equally as awesome.
this umbrella installation, because it's dreamy.
these cookies, because I have a weakness for gooey, chewy cookies and these look perfect.
this celine handbag, because it looks perfect for fall.
these nails, because they also look perfect for fall, and I'm feelin' it.

weekend warriors.

Lonnie took me to the Blue Mountain State Fair. Now I have talked about how important the fair is to me before. (My Senior Prom was even Fair-themed!) And since we both weren't home to go to my hometown's fair this year, we decided to give the fair up here a try. We both really enjoyed it, but we didn't ride any rides because there wasn't a wristband or anything you could get for 20 bucks that allowed you to ride everything as many times as you wanted. Our hometown fair had that deal, and anything else seemed like a waste to us in comparison, so we just spent our money on food.

And oh my gosh, did we eat a lot of food. We had Vermont maple cotton candy(that's what Lonnie is putting in his mouth in the picture a few shots up) and homemade barbeque pork rinds(I can't believe I just typed that. I don't like pork rinds, but these were different and amazing.), both of which we snacked on throughout the trip. I also had a foot long corndog and fried cookie dough(my favorite).

We listened to bluegrass and looked around at all the baby farm animals. We even saw a sea lion because they had a sea lion show!

from this week:
this recipe for lavender iced coffee, because I am currently living off iced coffee, and lavender flavored anything is pretty much always amazing.
this line from The Avett Brothers song "Please Pardon Yourself," because these words give me so much comfort that I want to hang this above my bed in order to give myself a daily reminder that things will be okay.
this insanely simple DIY art using burnt matches and cardboard, because it produces such a cool effect.
this hair inspiration, because I recently got a haircut and my hair is now layered and cut very similar to this and I love the way this is styled.
this feeling of home. I want to call it a feeling and not an image. Can you Pin a feeling? I suppose so. This is perfect. It reminds me of Lonnie's grandparents' house. This is what home feels like to me.
these absolutely crazy and ridiculous earrings, because I'll admit...I'm obsessed. And it's Fashion Week, so why not? I'm a huge fan of giant earrings, and these are simply fabulous.

I'm (attempting to get) back on track this week. We're three weeks into the school year, and I'm seeing a schedule start to fall into place. I have a night class for New Media once a week, and apparently it's the "weed out" class for the major. The professor describes the class a sort of "boot camp," and I'm feeling the burn. We've hit the ground running, and this week ahead is supposed to be the toughest week of the course as far as assignments go. All I can do is work my ass off and keep telling myself that things should get easier after this.

To end on a more positive note, this time of year is my absolute favorite. September days in the mountains are a perfect mix of sunny and 75. The cusp between the last bit of summer and the exciting start of fall is so sweet and fleeting that I wish I could just latch on and live here forever.

september so far.

A sun-soaked feel-good, smell-good reminder on my windowsill.

Leftovers which were just as yummy the second time around. Lonnie and I went to this tiny place called Bandidos and it was the best Latin American food I've ever had.

My little orange moose I bought at Ikea tucked in a happy corner. Both my favorite color and my favorite animal.

Drinking coffee in between classes to get through the day. Whether it be a couple cups of dark roast I brew in the maker I have in my room, or an iced cup from Starbucks, this is an almost daily ritual.

Finding a little section in my planner where I can list goals for every month. Keeping resolutions up year-round sounds like a wonderful thing to me.

Eating too much dark chocolate and being reminded that it's alright.

Just a quick update to say I'm settling in. My classes are proving to be more work than I thought, but after surviving last year's crazy schedule, I know I can handle it. I love where I live on campus and with that said, the girls I share my suite with. Sophomore year is all about doing my own thing, and I'm finding comfort in that. I'm super excited to be diving into my major, which is New Media. I'm really starting to feel like I'm learning the ropes to becoming a real designer.
